UPDATE: We will take new pictures of this bike hopefully on Monday the 14th. We have fixed some more items on it and want to display the bike today as it looks. The seller has placed any negoations on the bike on hold untill the new pictures are up. This particular bike was first sold through a civilian dealership named Schuenchen & Kuerth in Berlin in the summer of 1937 after being manufactured in May of that year according to original matching BMW archival data. It was captured by an allied patrol from a German Luftwaffe (Air Guard) ground unit in 1945 and assigned to duty within the British occupational zone of northern Germany. The original registration book from 1937 still has the documentation stamps from British occupational forces. Later it served as the personal patrol bike of the chief of police of the city of Oberhausen (still noted in its books), finally transferring to civilian ownership in the mid 1950's. The bike was 85% professionally restored in Switzerland in 2001 and completed by owner and renowned BMW restorer Todd Rasmussen over a period of 3 years with all receipts after adding the last of the correct hardware. All parts are restored originals or correct reproductions right down to the correct black oxide finish on the bolts and domed slot screws. One of only 12 bikes known to exist in the US and only some 1,800 were ever made over one production year, 1937. Every effort possible was made to ensure the most correct example possible and the mechanicals are as factory fresh now as they were in 1937 with less than 300 miles on the clock since that time. The bike is a tight and solid rider that is concours quality with no excuses. A finer example with its documentation would be an unlikely find.
