1940 Zundapp KS600 project motorcycle
This 1940 Zundapp KS600 is a restoration project for the person who wants to rebuild the bike from the ground up. It is a great starting point and needs a complete restoration. The frame No. 500445 was manufactured in 1940 and the engine No. 510140 was made in 1941. The frame has the side car mounts on it and has been reinforced in certain areas on the frame for the side car some time in its life. I can provide many more pictures if needed. The frame appears to be in good condition and not destroyed. The front forks are straight and function well. The seat is new but the seat bracket is broken and has been rewelded. The rear seat is in good shape with a new reproduction panier bag mount under the rear passanger seat. The rear kardan turns and enguages in all gears. The driveshaft turns and doesnt appear too be bent or broken. The transmission will go into all 4 gears with no problems. Be well aware I am going too assume everything must be inspected and taken apart and restored. The motor itself turns freely and has compression in both cylinders. I ran a compression test on both cylinders. It is weak at 30 pounds each but it turns over nicely. The cylinder heads have some broken cooling fins. Their is no electrical at all on the bike, it needs a full wire job along with no switch in the head light. The headlight has only the glass which has a crack in it. The reflector is in it along with a bulb but I am going too assume its Russina as the speedo is. The advance timing controll lever is Russian and not original. The handel bars are original and are straight. The carb on the bike is 100% original and is a AMAL M76 /451, this is a rare hard to get carb. The Norris generator is there and needs too be rebuilt. The gas tak is very clean inside and no rust at all. The bike also comes with metal panier boxes and a few misc parts.
