1935 DKW SB200
A incredible 1935 DKW SB200 found in a barn in........the USA! Yes that's right it was found here not in a barn in Germany. This bike has some great history too it. This was purchased by a US Army veteran stationed in Germany in the early 1950's. While he was there he needed transportation and he purchased this bike from a man whom claimed a German soldier during the war used it as a messenger bike. So the young soldier from the USA purchased the bike from the German man and rode it every throughout the country. He said while he was there he rebuilt the motor once during its time. From what I can tell the bike still has good compression and more than likely still runs. When the man left Germany in 1955 he shipped the bike too his home on the east coast and rode it here some more. Finally the bike made its way into his barn and has been sitting for at least 40 years. I still have the original US Army title that's dated 1955 and from the city he purchased it from. The bike is almost 100% Original, only a few small odds and ends have been replaced over the years. This is an excellent restoration bike as you don't have too find very many parts and the ones you do need a available on German EBAY everywhere. About the bike, the frame and engine are matching numbers to the ID plate on the bike and comes back exactly too a SB200 1935.The frame number is 297395 and the motor number is 524759.The ID plate is original and it has never been removed from the frame headstock. The motor, trans and frame all match perfect, this is the original motor and transmission. The bike rolls well and all the gears appear too be there and the bike shifts into them. The paint on the bike is the original black paint, it has never been repainted ever. How many bikes have you seen sill in the original paint? Looking at the bike almost the entire bike is still original. The things that are not original: Handel bars, clutch lever, rear brake light switch( appears 1950's). These are the main things that stick out and catch my eye right away. Some things on it which blew my mind that were original, spark plug cap and wire, front brake adjuster, seat and fenders, original RIBE bolts everywhere, horn, throttle grip assembly, gas cap with screen inside, etc. In all honestly the bike has some many original parts on it, its simply unreal. This bike requires a full restoration and everything will have too be checked out.
